The enchanted bay,
sports and meditation
The bay of Fetovaia, sheltered by a strip of land approximately 1 km long, is a natural swimming pool particularly suitable for swimming, diving, snorkelling, freediving and water sports in general. The beach, surrounded by rich vegetation, lends itself to the practice of yoga and meditation: a natural gym ideal for practicing outdoor sports and fitness.
Finally, the paths that connect to the GTE (Grande Traversata Elbana) start from Fetovaia to cross the island from west to east practicing trekking and mountain biking.

THE HISTORY OF FETOVAIA
The Turtle Beach
… once the bay of loving dolphins.
Sheltered by the majestic Punta di Fetovaia, a strip of land about 1 km long covered with mastic trees, pines, and rosemary, the beach is known as one of the most beautiful on the island for its white granite sand washed by turquoise waters. It is also known as the bay of the loving dolphins, who still swim offshore near the famous point. In the past, these cetaceans gave birth to their calves here, favored by the shallow seabeds and the mild water temperature that made the gulf an ideal incubator.
But in 2023, Fetovaia celebrated another extraordinary event: the birth of over 100 baby turtles that hatched on the beach, thanks also to the help of Legambiente volunteers, coordinated by researchers from Arpat, the University of Pisa, and Siena.
The eggs were laid by mother Caretta at two different times during the bathing season, under the amazed eyes of tourists who were on the beach in the early morning hours.
